"The first day of legalization, that's when Colorado experienced 37 deaths that day from overdose on marijuana," Pristoop told the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. "I remember the first day it was decriminalized there were 37 deaths."
As Sen. Jamie Raskin (D-Montgomery) quickly pointed out, what Pristoop actually remembered was a joke story at The Daily Currant...
Pristoop seemed taken aback that something he had seen in print might not be the literal truth. "If it was a misquote," he told Raskin, "then I'll stand behind the mistake. But I'm holding on to information I was provided."
QuoteWith its former mayor in jail on drug charges and after most other city employees who walked out after a state audit found missing money and possibly criminal mismanagement, the city of Hampton may not be around much longer.
To anyone who ever got a speeding ticket while passing through the two miles of U.S. 301 within the Hampton city limits, this is welcome news.
With only 477 residents, the city has brought in as much as $200,000 annually from traffic citations.
QuoteCampbell painted the picture for UNA officials. Tuskegee's fans, he said, are overwhelmingly black and UNA's are overwhelmingly white. Allowing the two fan bases to sit together on the same side of the field would be risking danger, he said
Quote"I think he was fed some information about the guest he had on beforehand — that's what producers do — given some questions that he should ask, etc., etc.," Beck explained. "Some producer, who is sympathetic to the atheist plight or just doesn't like Christians or whatever it is, thought it was important to point out that, in the middle of the heartland in American where most people are God fearing, there are atheists there too."
"It's important because it informs others what they are being taught about atheists from atheism and the bully pulpit and other sources of bias that is not a correct reflection of reality in plain view," he continued. "We are not fighting against flesh and bone, we are fighting the forces of spiritual darkness. And it doesn't matter what people's intent are, but I will tell you that, that was there for a reason."
QuoteWe respectfully disagree. It is true that voters are unhappy with the choice between President Obama and Mitt Romney. Half view it as nothing more than the choice between a lesser of two evils.
However, experience has shown us that asking about "Some Other Candidate" provides a more accurate view of the race than including third party candidates. Our current polling finds that about 4% to 6% of voters say that they will vote for someone other than Obama or Romney. When we ask them a follow-up question, less than half say they will stick with that third party choice.
Therefore, we have concluded that the most accurate measure of the Obama-Romney race is to leave Johnson's name out of the mix.
