This week's quote: "The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts; they alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering." --Doctor Who ("The Face of Evil" by Chris Boucher)

I watched a Stossel report about Canadian air traffic control.  When the new private owners came in, what they found was terrifying.  The state ATC's were passing around strips of paper to communicate with each other, their radar was still using vacuum tubes, yes the same ones we took out of our TV's years ago and the radar tower itself was so out of date that they had to demolish the whole thing and rebuild it.

No wonder people are afraid to fly.

Correct me if I'm wrong but...according to the DoJ's argument about the liberty dollar, Chuckee Cheese are counterfeiting no?
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"
The more you know...

Good question. And what about American Express with their travellers checks?

How privatized is the Canadian traffic control exactly? What I mean is, does the government still have strict control over what they do and what company gets to work where? You know, the type of private, where you are essentially given a monopoly, or the government regulates you so much, that you might as well not bother.

I think they probably do have a monopoly at least over their particular airports. But it seems to be closer than any other system on the planet.

Heh, I just noticed you said the year was 2001 in the date.  Oops

Dammit, I DID say that! How did I miss it the several times I listened to it? Damn bogons...

EDIT: Fixed with the magic of clever editing.  ;)

Where can I make a nomination for next week's idiot extraordinaire? In particular, DavidJohnWellman for his series of videos on what he calls 'Randroids' and his attempts to legitimize the social contract and make it seem voluntary?

Audio/video editing n00b question: How'd you do that?

And remember, I'm the guy who couldn't figure out how to recreate the dalek voice effect. =P

Send the nomination--with links to relevant videos AND the timecodes of the segments--to podcast@bogosity.tv.

I took the "March 2011" from the previous podcast and stripped it in. The sibilant consonants ("ch," "t," "s," etc.) provide excellent edit points to stick it in, so I had several choices.

Oh, and the Dalek effect is done with a ring modulator. Set it around 20-30Hz.

I will personally back this nomination myself as well.  My fav part is his response to my pointing out that the state violates it's end of "social contract" anyway.

"Well there's checks and balances, hur hur!"

Yeah, is that why Bush is on trial for war crimes and repeated violations of the constitution?  Oh wait, no he isn't you retard!  ><

So please link me to videos with starting times. I have neither the time nor (I'm guessing) the desire to wade through all of his crap.

And don't even get me started on his fucktarded subscriber base.

Not all that much of substance to pick apart.  He basically makes up excuses to justify "the social contract" as he goes along.

My reply: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEdhZIUNsCo
Of particular note, in the comments here, watch how Virgil explains why the social contract as David defines it is illegal and would never fly in a court of law and David simply blows him off and demonstrates utter ignorance of how contract law works.
He also claims that the constitution and the bill of rights is the social contract and I explained to him that those, if anything, are contracts the government swears to, not the citizenry.  He has not responded.
