I seem to recall we had a discussion when those Districts were set up and I was suspicious and wanted a statistical analysis, while Shane said it was a lot better than the old ones (not actually supportive per se, but better than they had been before).  I can't seem to find the thread, though.  I do recall poiting out that I thought the 4th district looked particularly fishy.

Damore wasn't even saying they shouldn't try to employ more women and minorities, he was arguing they're going about it the wrong way and gave some concrete ideas about how to make the jobs in questions more attractive to women by tailoring the work style more to the typical preferences of women.  Had they bothered to understand his memo, they not only wouldn't they have this embarrassing public fiasco that's going to bring the state of California down on them as well, they might actually be making progress towards the goals they claim to want to achieve.  (Under the Equal Protection clause, California is required to pursue these discrimination claims with similar effort to other discrimination claims of similar scope and intensity.  If they don't, they run the risk that a later case they bring may be challenged on the basis that they are applying the law in a discriminatory manner in violation of the Equal Protection garauntee.  Unlike many nations, the US has legal protections in place that specifically prohibit "making an example" of someone or ignoring their violations of law because they're convenient or desirable to those in charge.  How well they work, or don't work, is another matter.)

Incidentally, anyone know what the current state of Falarka's criminal cases is?  I can't seem to find anything current online about her violent crime sprees.
